Mirrors of Memory - Photographic Exhibition in Lagos

Type: Exhibition

On October 27th, the Municipal Day of Lagos, the Cultural Centre inaugurates an exhibition called, "Lagos, Mirror of Memories" This exhibition presents a set of illustrated postcards and photographs focusing on the first half of the 20th century. These are pictures of landscapes, heritage buildings and people that portray the city and the suburbs of Lagos. The exhibition runs until December 30th.

Memories of Monchique Mountains

Type: Exhibition

Parque da Mina, located in Monchique, presents an exhibition "Memories of the Monchique Mountains" This exhibition can be viewed until December 31st.

Parque da Mina is a beautiful location and a wonderful place for the family to visit and enjoy all that is traditional from the Monchique Mountains.

Painting and Photography Exhibition in Silves

Type: Exhibition

On Friday, October 25th, the Casa da Cultural Islámica e Mediterránica, in Silves, inaugurate an exhibition of painings and photography by João Sena (paintings) and Nuno Borges (photography). This exhibition called "Al-Sentidus" aims to express emotions and stories through painting and photography aspiring to capture moments in time invoking Islamic and Mediterranean cultures.

the exhibition runs until Janurary 3rd and opening times for the Casa da Cultural Islámica e Mediterránica are: Tues to Fri: 10am to 1pm & 2pm to 6pm. Sat: 4pm to 6pm. Entrance is free..

Rodrigo Ferreira

Type: Exhibition

Vale do Lobo Art Gallery in association with the prestigious Galeria São Mamede present a contemporary art exhibition featuring a stunning collection of thought provoking paintings from the acclaimed artist Rodrigo Ferreira from November 5th until December 11th.

Rodrigo Ferreira was born in Paris in 1951 and attended the École Nacional de Beaux-Arts in the city between 1969 and 1975. Since 1967 he has been exhibiting his work in a variety of diverse solo and collaborative exhibitions in both France and Portugal. His works depict a desire and hunger for life and the vast expanses of oceans in conjunction with the air, earth and fire. Using light and space his works celebrate an unknown geography of the soul which are revealed through his art.

A poor peasant sees a crane fall from the sky, wounded by a hunter’s arrow....and the story continues.

Aperitivo has taken this legend - which tells of the Cranewife weaving cloth on a loom for her husband to sell at the market - and combined it with the Greek and Norse myths of the three old women who weave the fates of mankind.

What: Vale do Lobo Christmas Market

When: 7 December from 11am-5pm

Where: Main Auditorium, Vale do Lobo. Entrance is free.

The details: Now in its fourth year. A luxury lifestyle Christmas gift market combined with a gourmet food and wine area, allowing visitors to shop, eat, drink and generally be merry! The market will raise money for one of the Algarve’s leading charities, the Wolf Valley Charity Fund, which provides support and finance to numerous needy causes in the local area.

Exhibitors include: Belinha Silva (porcelain and scarves), Curiosa (candles and gifts), Doces Pecados (chocolates), Dusan Jewelry, Fi-Line Fashions, Floriis (hand-crafted paper flowers), Genie Art & Craft, Herons Gate (fabrics and furnishings), Joke Ornaments (jewellery), Jouk's Studio (fashion), Mary Kay Cosmetics, Mundo Saudavel (organic health food and natural products), Natura Garden Centres, Pearls of Wisdom (pearls), Rainbow Cards (Christmas and greeting cards), Reflections (hand-painted gifts), Residual (handicrafts made from recycled materials), Sigues (jewellery, bags, gifts and decorative items), Solambiente (spas and hot tubs), Suzannah's Flowers, Sweet Marilyn (cakes), Sweet Treats (confectionery), Tantaprenda (gifts and novelties), Usborne Books, Vale do Lobo (golf and spa breaks) and Wild at Art (handmade gifts).


Birch Photography meanwhile will have a photo studio set up for family portraits, and Daracle Photography will be running a fun ‘bad-taste Christmas sweater’ photo competition, whilst Jouk’s Studio will host a catwalk parade of ladies’ fashions. Keeping the children entertained will be Oficina de Sonhos, with inflatables, face-painting, balloon modeling, a popcorn machine and an interactive hide-and-seek theatre show, whilst there will also be performances on stage from the teenagers of the Algarve Glee Club and the Sing Thing choir.


Visitors won’t go hungry either. Fine Dining in Style will be running the main restaurant area, serving hot food from the stand as well as taking seated lunch reservations, complemented by Asiana, selling tasty Indian food, and Prime Wine Importers with selections from their range of international wines.
