The health of our nation is suffering as a result of these processed foods and unnatural and our palates accustomed to fruits and vegetables, which have little taste and that look artificially perfect. Many products are packaged in plastic harmful to the environment and also gained an enormous carbon footprint when they reach their destination. All this is bad news for us and for the environment.

WHY CHOOSE ORGANIC PRODUCTS

Research continues to show that vitamins and minerals are higher in many organic foods. On average, organic food contains higher levels of vitamin C and essential minerals such as magnesium, iron and chromium as well as antioxidants to fight cancer.

No Additives unpleasant

Organic food does not contain food additives which can cause health problems like heart disease, asthma, osteoporosis, migraines, food allergies and hyperactivity. Among the additives are organic prohibited by regulations hydrogenated fats, aspartame and monosodium glutamate and all artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners.

Pesticides that we should avoid

Over 400 chemical pesticides are usually used in conventional agriculture. Residues of these pesticides are regularly found in a high percentage of fruits and vegetables, and in 2004, the European Commission said it is a risk to human health and can not be ignored any longer.

Genetically modified organisms are not allowed under organic standards.

Drug addiction Removed

There is a growing concern about the use of antibiotics in animals raised and possible health risk. Organic standards prohibit the routine use of antibiotics.

Highest standards

Organic food comes from trusted sources. All organic farms and food companies are inspected at least once a year to determine compliance with Irish and European regulations.

Animal welfare is an integral and crucial in organic standards. The benefits of the organic approach are acknowledged by organizations for animal welfare, such as Compassion in World Farming.
