Algarve Bike Tours

Bike Tours

The ideal way to see the hidden beauty of the Algarve is by bike and these are some of our most popular tours.

Quinta do Lago and Praia do Faro

From the luxury and glamour that is Quinta do Lago to the salt flats and the local charm of the Praia do Faro, this is a fantastic healthy way to spend a morning. Cycling through pine woodland, surrounded by freshwater lakes and salt marshes, you will be treated to views across the lagoon to the dunes and Atlantic ocean beyond, with the opportunity to spot abundant wildlife and dune vegetation. We cycle at a pace to suit you, mainly along quiet roads and dirt tracks, and we have bikes and helmets available. All you need to do is turn up and pedal.

This tour is appropriate for novice/intermediate riders. It is also ideal for families as it is mostly on traffic-calmed roads and dirt tracks. It lasts for approximately 3 hours.

We run regular tours every Tuesday from 09.30 am.

Albufeira – Town and Country

There is a lot more to the Albufeira region than meets the eye and this is a tour of many contrasts. Starting in Albufeira old town, we are soon into quiet, unspoilt countryside, passing Sir Cliff Richard’s famous vineyards in Guia, and along pleasant country lanes to the coast. Passing by the Salgados Lagoon, we should see a variety of birdlife and maybe a turtle or two swimming in the lakes. As the coast gets rockier we stay a little inland away from the cliff edge and cruise down to the colourful marina on the edge of Albufeira . Carefully navigating the narrow cobbled streets of the old Town, we are soon back at our starting point by the old bus station.

This tour is appropriate for reasonably fit and competent riders, able to ride 25 km, including a few gentle hills and a variety of road surfaces.

We run regular tours every Friday at 10.00 am.

Moncarapacho - Tavira

This is a great tour which gives you the opportunity to see a little of the ‘real’, unspoilt Eastern Algarve. Starting in the quaint town of Moncarapacho, with cobbled streets and traditional houses, we head East along quiet, largely traffic free roads and dirt tracks. We pass though orange groves, sleepy Algarvean villages and scenic countryside before arriving in Tavira. Tavira is one of the prettiest towns on the Algarve coast, with a river running through the centre, a castle, an old Roman bridge and a wealth of traditional architectural styles. We head West along the coast, passing through the beautiful village of Santa Luzia, famous for its Octopus fishing . Following some well established dirt tracks through the best of the Ria Formosa, we gradually return to Moncarapacho .

This tour is appropriate for reasonably fit and competent riders, capable of riding c. 40 km, with a few gentle hills - nothing too strenuous.

We run regular tours every Thursday from 09.30 am.

Alcantarilha - Silves

This tour takes you away from the coast and into the countryside along some interesting tracks.  Starting close to the centre of Alcantarilha, we are soon onto quiet dirt tracks cycling past vineyards and down towards the Rio Arade amidst scenic countryside. We follow a narrow pathway along an irrigation channel for several kms. Tricky at times, this is not a ride for novices, but is a fabulous way to cut across country before joining the main road into the medieval town of Silves. We then head along the river bank, emerging from the valley for a panoramic view of the town and castle. Continuing along quiet roads, we turn into an ancient dirt track that skirts one of the few rice fields in the Algarve, also home to all kinds of wildlife, including storks. Finally we pass through the sleepy village of Fontes da Matosa before arriving back.

This tour is appropriate for reasonably fit and competent riders, capable of riding c. 40 km, with a few gentle hills - nothing too strenuous.

We run regular tours every Thursday from 09.30 am.
