Pinheiros Altos

Pinheiros Altos Golf Course located within the well-known Quinta do Lago estate, within the golfing world it is known as providing a mental challenge due to well placed hazards. Bordering the 18,300 hectares of Natural Park of Ria Formosa which provides a habitat for many species of birds and has much interesting vegetation.

Pinheiros Altos is a combination of 27 holes composed by three groups of 9 holes named Oliveiras (Olives), Pinheiros (Pines) and Sobreiros (Corks), respectively. This highly original and distinctive course possesses completely opposing characteristics. The original 18-hole course of Pinheiros Altos was well-known for its contrasting nines. While the first 9-hole are over rolling sandy undergrowth with gentle pine trees, the shorter second 9-hole runs through hills dotted with lakes that present the main obstacle for the golfers on this course.

Holes: 27. Par 72

Includes Buggy: No
Handicap for Men: 28
Handicap for Women: 36

The 27 championship holes at the Pinheiros Altos Resort are presented in three nine holes formats.

Each of the nine holes has four sets of tees. The white and yellow tees represent the championship and medal tees respectively for the men, and the blue and red represent the equivalent test for the ladies.

The Pines (Pinheiros) - PAR 36 - Red Course

The Pines Course (Pinheiros) is named after the abundance of pine trees which flourish the course; this nine includes four of the new holes opened in January 2007 and five of the original front nine. One thousand additional pine trees have been planted to blend the new with old.

The Pines signature hole is the ninth, a beautiful par 3 over a valley to a McKenzie green while the par 5 fourth hole is the epitome of 'risk and reward' golf course design.

The view of the green over the water, within reach for many golfers, is just too much of a temptation to resist and often results in a watery grave for a new Titleist golf ball!

The Corks (Sobreiros) - PAR 36 - Yellow Course

The Corks Course (Sobreiros) is the longest of the three nine holes at Pinheiros Altos and regarded the most demanding.

Like the Pines Course, the Corks Course is a mixture of the original and new holes with spectacular views of the Ludo valley and the Goldra hills beyond.
