The São Domingos restaurant, in Galé, is a showcase of flavours and aromas of the rich Portuguese and Mediterranean cuisine. The legacy of traditions and practices, from agriculture to the sowing of the land, harvesting, fishing, preparation and consumption of food earned the Mediterranean Diet the distinction of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Olive oil, bread, pasta, fruits, vegetables, fish, cheeses, white meats, condiments, spices and wine are the basis of this unique cuisine in the world.

History

On March 30th, 1995 São Domingos restaurant was born in Galé, Albufeira. Domingos Almeida had the dream of having a restaurant and Maria da Conceição accompanied him on this project of a lifetime. They bought a plot of land for 2,000€ (a small fortune in April 1980) and with great effort built a house for their family. In their family home, a villa with a swimming pool, this adventure began. They started by adapting the garage but quickly it became too small for the lovers of good food in this new restaurant. After the garage, the restaurant expanded to the living room of the villa and then other areas, until only the bedrooms remain. Currently the restaurant São Domingos has four rooms, one private, and one with a terrace. Although no longer a family house, São Domingos became the "home" for many visitors to this Algarve area, who came back again and again.
